Payment Policy

Last updated: April 19, 2026

We believe everyone deserves access to quality sleep medicine care. If you have questions about your bill or need help understanding your insurance benefits, please call us at (517) 887-6733. We are happy to work with you.

1. Insurance Billing

MWCSD participates with most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. We will bill your primary insurance carrier directly on your behalf for covered services. You are responsible for all co-pays, co-insurance, and deductible amounts as determined by your plan.

Please bring your current insurance card(s) to every appointment. If your insurance information has changed, notify our staff as soon as possible to avoid delays or denials in processing your claim.

2. Co-Pays & Patient Responsibility

Co-pays are due at the time of service. We accept cash, personal checks, and all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express).

Any remaining balance after insurance processing will be billed to you via a patient statement. Balances are due within 30 days of statement receipt unless a payment plan has been arranged with our billing team.

3. Self-Pay Patients

Patients without insurance coverage are considered self-pay. Self-pay patients are expected to pay for services at the time of the visit. Please ask our front desk staff about self-pay rates prior to your appointment — we are committed to transparent pricing.

We encourage uninsured patients to contact us in advance to discuss your options and any available financial assistance programs.

4. Prior Authorization & Referrals

Some insurance plans require prior authorization or a physician referral before certain sleep studies or procedures can be performed. Our staff will work with you and your referring provider to obtain any required authorizations. However, it is ultimately the patient's responsibility to verify their specific plan requirements. Services rendered without required authorization may result in denied claims and patient financial responsibility.

5. Durable Medical Equipment (DME)

CPAP machines, masks, supplies, and other durable medical equipment may be billed separately through a DME supplier. Your insurance coverage for DME may differ from your coverage for physician services. Our team can help explain what to expect and assist in coordinating your DME benefits.

6. Payment Plans

If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact our billing department to discuss payment plan arrangements. We will make every effort to find a solution that allows you to continue receiving the care you need.

7. Accepted Insurance Plans

We accept most major insurance plans. For the most current list of accepted insurers, please visit our Patient Resources page or call our office directly.
